Most people think
that the agent they are working with is working on
their side. But, unless they are working
as your Exclusive Buyer Agent, they could actually be working on the
Seller's side, or for both you and the Seller at the same time
(so-called "Dual Agency").
Your real estate agent should only represent you, the Buyer, EXCLUSIVELY.
Law firms do not represent both parties in transactions. Neither should
your real estate agent!
There is much more to
purchasing a home than just finding the "right
house". Traditional real estate agents show homes (often their
own listings) and try to persuade you to buy them. They
work for the Seller. Their objective is to sell the property to you at
the highest possible price.
You
are typically required to buy thru the person
who showed you the
OPEN HOUSE
or
MODEL. The problem is they work
for the SELLER or the BUILDER, and not for you, like we always do. More...

An agent either works for you

but an Exclusive Buyer Broker. Make sure that is what you are

"By consenting to dual agency, you
are giving up your right to have your agent be loyal to you,
since your agent is now also representing your adversary..."
