Located in the Paulus Hook Community:
Paulus Hook is one of the oldest sections of Jersey City. In 1633 Michael Paulusen, a Dutch trader, built his home here. Paulus Hook became a part of Jersey City in 1820.
History: Clermont Cove was originally a four-story
former
turn-of-the-century brick warehouse at the edge of the Hudson River. A developer bought the land and
vacant building in 1985. The following year, the developer started
construction, rehabilitating and expanding the building to a nine-story
building by adding 5 new floors.
The first
condo was sold in 1988.
The Clermont Cove
was the first condominium conversion on the
Jersey City waterfront and named after Robert Fulton's first successful
steamboat, the Clermont.
-
The building, designed by Bomad Inc. of
Hoboken, N.J., has as its primary focus a nine-story central atrium along
which will run two glass-enclosed elevator bubbles. A 1,600-square-foot,
glass-enclosed ''sky lounge'' at the top of the building faces the
financial district in Lower Manhattan.
